Forney EDC approves contruction at 106 E. Main, terminates agreements with Zanatas

During its Feb. 12, 2015 meeting, the Forney Economic Development Corp. with new Executive Director Warren Ketteman -

  • Financial Report - Mr. Burrus stated at 41% of the fiscal year, tax revenue was at 32%, booking of receipts was running behind due to the holidays, and expenses were well below receipts.
  • Executive Director’s Report was short, due to Mr. Ketteman having been here just two weeks. Mr. Ketteman outlined how the future reports would be arranged, and said these two weeks have been very busy, and all staff has been supportive.
  • Held Public Hearings
    • This item was pulled Finish out of property, generally located at 215 S. Bois D’Arc, Forney, Texas, in an amount not to exceed $235,000.00 (the location that was to be Zanata's in Forney)
    • Building repair and renovation, generally located at 106 E. Main St., Forney, Texas, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 (most recently leased to Accolade). There was no public input.
  • Approved an EDC budget amendment related to building repair and renovation at 106 E. Main Street.
  • Approved the approval of construction contract with Craig Randall Custom Remodeling in an amount not to exceed $12,582.00 for building repair and renovation at 106 E. Main Street. This is to construct an ADA-compliant restroom.
  • Pulled from agenda an EDC budget amendment related to finish out of property at 215 S. Bois D’Arc.
  • Pulled from agenda construction contract with Craig Randall Custom Remodeling in an amount not to exceed $205,831.00.
  • Held an Executive Session lasting just over 1 hour, then
  • Took no action re: a potential tenant for EDC owned property at 106 E. Main Street. Mr. Conner encouraged the applicant to re-apply, after the city follows the same process for advertising the property that it did for 215 S. Bois D'arc and Groovy's, which could start next week.
  • Approved a Termination Agreement, Terminating both the Performance and Lease agreements between Zanata Restaurant and the EDC.
  • Took no action re: the conveyance of property from the City of Forney to the EDC (2.8 +/- acres of land at the Southeast corner of FM 548 and Highway 80).
