The Forney Planning & Zoning committe on Oct. 17 approves a preliminary plat for a new development which will be anchored by Aldi's, and has received an application from Scholtzsky's to be in Schafer Plaza.

Forney Park Board Jan. 21, 2015 decides against amphitheatre rentals

During it's regular meeting, the Park Board held a lengthy debate about renting out the amphitheatre, and moved to not allow private rentals.

Ampitheater inclusion into Entertainment Overlay District tabled

Aug. 2: After a lengthy debate with much public opposition, the P&Z tabled consideration of including the Spellman Ampitheater into the Entertainment Overlay District.

Forney City Council June 17 meeting Approved a site plan for Huddle House, a CUP for consignment shop, rezoning a lot from SF-6 to GR, tabled changes to the sign ordinance, approved awnings up to 15' wide for outdoor dining, financial incetive for Mama's Daughters, proceeding with annexation of land, scheduling an update to water & sewer fees, and an awning at Crumbzz.

Forney EDC April 09, 2015 approves downtown renovation money, moves to buy land

The Forney EDC approved 2 downtown Renovation Incentives, moves to do something about a utility easement downtown, moves forward on preparing to purchase the surplus TxDOT property at FM548/FM688/US Hwy 80.

FM 548 RailRoad crossing is to be closed Jan 5, 9A - 5P

Union Pacific RR has announced they will close the RR crossing at FM 548 on Jan. 05 from 9A - 5P. You will have to detour on FM 741 to Holly Leaf, Chestnut, or FM 740.


Special FEDC Feb. 26, 2015 meeting: 215 Bois D'arc and Crumbzz

The board approved $232,811 for the finish-out of 215 S. Bois D’Arc (former future Zanatas location), and considers extending the lease for Crumbzz for five years.

Nov P&Z approves 7-11, considers Food Trucks and zoning for 2 more gas stations

The Nov. P&Z approved a site plan for a 7-11 store w/ 6 gas pumps; approved ordinance changes for Ice Machines & a C.U.P. for one; added a definition & annual fee structure for Food Trucks; approved zoning changes in the Fox Hollow PD for Neighborhood Services & Gas Stations at Monitor & 741, and at Monitor and 1641; concurred with proposed changes to allow for enforcement of private clubs regulations.

Train stopped on tracks Sat July 7 about 5PM

The train stopped on the tracks about 5pm July 7, blocking everything West of Chestnut, and will "be there a while" until repairs are done. Which happened about 11:55pm.

Forney City Council Feb. 03, 2015 ponders infrastructure needs

City Councils' very short agenda still resulted in a full meeting with a presentation from Chris Metz listing the Top Ten worst roads in Forney, the likely future costs to the City to maintain roads and the time frame.

Second 3-board meeting for downtown redevelopment

City council, FEDC, and P&Z meet Oct. 8 to consider priorities for downtown redevelopment. Some items: sidewalks, RR quiet zones, splitting FM740/Bois D'arc through downtown, purchasing the FISD (old FBC) property, limiting the number of office uses, and generating funding for downtown improvements.
